ENEMA
Project Case: Enema Medical Device Redesign

Our customer required an update to one of their existing products: a medical enema device.
The original design left residual liquid in the container after use, causing issues both for patients—who received inconsistent doses of medication—and for the enema company, which faced increased inquiries from patients about the leftover liquid.
Project Objectives
-
Complete Liquid Dispensation: The device must release all liquid with a single squeeze.

-
Seamless Integration: The redesigned product must fit seamlessly into the customer's existing production line.

Project Execution

To achieve Objective 1, we developed multiple iterations to refine the design, testing each prototype to ensure all liquid would dispense effectively. We utilized 3D-printed prototypes made with elastic materials to replicate the behaviour of the final product, allowing us to identify and address any issues in liquid release.

For Objective 2, we relied on 3D scanning to gather precise measurements of the customer’s machinery, enabling us to design within specified parameters and ensure compatibility with the existing production setup.

Result

The redesigned enema device now ensures complete liquid removal with one squeeze and integrates flawlessly into the client’s production line, providing both operational efficiency and improved patient outcomes.
